St. John's Lutheran Church
Who Are We?
St. John's Lutheran Church is a church with pioneer roots. The history of our congregation began in the late 1800's with the immigration of Lutherans from Germany, Poland, Austria and Russia. Our church has a long history in Strathcona; a wood frame structure was built in 1936. In 1963 the present church was built. Additions to the present structure was dedicated in 1985. Our membership now stands at approximately 92 families. Click here.
Mission Statement
St. John’s Lutheran Church is a welcoming community of Christ proclaiming people who through the gift of the Holy Spirit are nurtured by Word and Sacrament. We exist to serve God and people of all ages by visible examples of faith, love and compassion for all our neighbours.
Pastoral Care
Our pastor is trained to provide Christian counselling to families and individuals. Special consideration is given to the needs of those in crisis. In addition, there is the opportunity to seek personal direction for spiritual growth. Our pastor makes a special effort to be in touch with those people preparing to celebrate a wedding or baptism in the family . Families meet with our pastor in preparation for baptism. Care and concern is given to those who are hospitalized and to those who have lost a loved one.
